Ixthusdan
Downloaded and got it. Install went good. I miss compiling, but seems to be running OK. I booted to console in order to install the drivers. Don't know what would happen if I were still in X. Nvidia says that after this release, there will be no more source rpm's available. Guest anon
Well done Nvidia. Could this be the end of Nvidia posts?
DragonMage
I kinda wish there will still be source rpms for older rpm based distro such as mandrake 9.0, RH 8.0 and below. Oh well.. let's see how good this new installer is.
Guest ndeb
If u cut all the PR out, it simply means they will have to automate the compilation of the kernel dependent stuff, since the 3D support is definitely kernel dependent. That also means the system must have a C compiler (gcc), kernel source and other appropriate development libraries and headers installed. Basically, its 1000$ worth of PR for something thats actually worth 10$. It is also stupid of them stop supplying src.rpms because many folks may have custom kernels and other software. I don't see any harm in supplying the src.rpm (and tar.gz) along with their new approach.
