Guest pleiades12001
I'm running Mandriva 2006. Why does netstat show several lines similar to this: 192.168.0.3:53431 frontal2.mandriva.com:http TIME tcpdump shows lots of communication going back and forth ie 15:52:44.768682 IP 192.168.0.3.53453 > frontal2.mandriva.com.http: . ack 2 win 1460 <nop, nop, timestamp 557020 8658803> Is there a process which is running that is doing this? Puzzled.
Mhn
One app that do so is Network Monitoring ( /usr/sbin/net_monitor ) that do it to check if the connection is working. Network Monitoring start if you left-click on network applet in the system tray in the panel (KDE). Edited March 10, 2007 by Mhn
Guest pleiades12001
Thanks Mhn. I checked and it was network monitoring. My paranoia levels are stabilising again. Sue
