voyage
Hello All Well i think i have tried everything to get this blo**y ati card (x800) to work, but it still refuses to give me 3d so in the best tradition possible i am going to BIN it. Damm thing never really ran well under windows either. So I am going to get a nvidia card. So for all you people out there which one should i get (nothing to pricey please) thx all
Ixthusdan
Any nvidia chip will work fine. The 6000 series is generally inexpensive and perform well. (6100, 6200, 6500)
Greg2
Well i think i have tried everything to get this blo**y ati card (x800) to work Well, I've just read your post and you haven't even responded to members trying to help you? we need to know 32bit or 64bit? which version of OS? have you tried to use the easy-urpmi at the top of this page or here?: https://mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/index.php if not, add the plf repos, and use your software installer or urpmi to install: ati-8.28.8-plf2007.0 I'm not trying to piss you off, I'm trying to help you help yourself. :) You will not find it any easier to make nvidia work then your ati card using the plf repos! Ixthusdan
Actually, it is a good idea to try to resolve issues before making changes. If the problem is sourced in knowledge, it may rear its ugly head again, and you'll still have to solve it! ;)

Are you using Mandriva 2006?

Ixthusdan
OK. Check your urpmi configuration. Use Easy-Urpmi at the top of the page. Be sure to select 2007 as your distro and configure main, contrib, updates, plf-free and plf-nonfree. If you do this, simply inputing "urpmi dkms-ati" will take care of all depends for you. Check it out.

Greg2
i am using 64bit OK, I asked you that 2 days ago. :) Now you must go to the easy-urpmi and set it up as version 2007 and architecture x86_64 and be sure to include the plf repos. Make sure you 'first' do urpmi.removemedia -a before you add the new repos Then install dkms-ati-8.28.8-3plf2007.0.x86_64 and ati-8.28.8-3plf2007.0.x86_64 Edited February 27, 2007 by Greg2
