me:

I've got a hub and two PC's. All capable of 100MBit fullduplex.

But while startup of LM8.2, both change to 100MBit halfduplex.

How can i force them to do the full job??

You can do it with the driver disquete of the network card, should come with a msdos mode configuration program. Or you can check the documentation of the module that your network cards use, maybe it has an option to set the media and speed mode, and configure in the /etc/modules.conf

me:

Can you please be so kind to give me some more information on the /modules.conf way?

Im not sure, but i think i didn't get any driverbootdisk, so...

iferreira:

You can check the network module used by your network card in the /etc/modules.conf file, like this:

alias eth0 8139too

the module for eth0 interface is 8139too, so you can check on Internet if there are options to this module, and configure the options in the /etc/modules.conf, like this:

(Example only)

options 8139too fullduplex=1

So you must know the correct options for the module. Also you must know that not all modules support these parameters.

Are you sure that your hub supports full duplex? Regular hubs don't. You usually need a switch or router to support full duplex.

Do you get full duplex mode if you connect the two computers directly with a crossover cable (assuming you have one)?

me:

I don't have a xlink cable, but the hub.... hum, must look more exactly next time i get it under my fingers....

In the moment, there are 600 miles between :(

however i will definetely look after some module parameters, Thx.

hubs DON´t support full duplex, because they´re OSI Layer 2 Devices!

The only way of gettung "full" duplex via Hub is to only connect 2 Computers to the hub, but this way a hub is obsolete...
