Guest jonny
I'm trying to install mandriva free 2007 (64bit) from 3cds I burnt from iso. I tried to use the 'copy cd's to HDD' feature during install but it fails on disk 3, where it just loops on the progress bar really slowly. When I removed the option and tried to install again I get errors about some image files '.png' and taken back to the partition manager. The errors are different every time I try to install the program, but always in the same place, and involve '.png' files. Hardware is: ASUS MOBO M2N32-SLi Wireless Ed. AMD X2 4200+ Seagate Baracuda 250GB SATA Sony DVD Liteon CDR/W Geforce 7100GS The computer currently runs both win xp and ubuntu 32bit without problems. Any ideas? Is there any way to check the install disk is ok?
neddie
Is there any way to check the install disk is ok? There's an easy way to check whether the ISOs were downloaded OK for starters - from Ubuntu use the command md5sum file.iso and compare with the sums listed on the Mandriva download page. If they're ok then it's possible the burn might have gone wonky- can you browse through the contents of the cd ok?

Ixthusdan
There is an error that I had come up when installing the 64 bit version. There should be an option to continue the install. After installing, the system gets update via urpmi and I found no lasting issues. The real problem is that it is occurring at different places, telling me that it is more likely a bad burn or bad image.
