Peter_APIIT
I using Mandriva Linux 2007 X86_64 free edition on my PC. Everything is working fine and smooth. I pretty satisfied with the perforamnce and features. Unfortunately, i can"t get the sound working properly. When i go to system - > configuration -> KDE -> Hardware -> Sound. Then appear a screen like this Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706(ALSA v1.0.12 emulation code)Kernel: Linux localhost 2.6.17-55mdv #1 SMP Wed sep 13 14:28:02 EDT 2006 X86_64 Config options: 0 Installed Drivers: Type 10: ALSA Emulation Card config: HDA Nvidia at 0xfe024000 irq 233 Audio devices: 0:AD198x Analog (Duplex) Synth devices: Not enabled in config Midi devices:Not enabled in config Timers: 7: system users Mixers: 0: Analog Devices AD1988B I don"t know what" wrong with it. My sound card is nVidia High Definition Audio. My driver is snd-dsda-intel [ALSA]. I did not connect cable from DVD-ROM to motherboard. Is it this the issue ? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hope GOD will blessed you all guys.

ianw1974
Check dmesg, for something like this: [root@europa ian]# dmesg | grep hda_codec hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC262, trying auto-probe from BIOS... as you can see, I have a problem and I cannot get this to work because of this, and not found a fix. Maybe yours is similar. If hda_codec grepping doesn't give a result, just put grep codec instead, and see what happens.
michaelcole
This has something to do with the kernel i know this because i have two kernels one works one doesn't and dont worry the version on the 64 bit did not work. I am looking at it at the moment if i get a fix i will send you. You can see the fun i had getting the 32 bit version working completely here. I just broke the 64 Bit Version so will have to get back to you when i have it fixed..

michaelcole
64 Bit still broke working in the 32 bit at the moment interesting that it did not work. Maybe something to do with the motherboard Manufacturer. Not just the type of audio chip. will look at it tonight.
