scarecrow
I am ready to file a bug at Realtek, I have already reported the issue at my distro's forum, but I want some input before I file a bug- both at Archlinux bug report and Realtek. Does anyone who has 8168/8111 NIC (interface does not seem to matter) has speed issues with that card and the latest and "greatest" driver from Realtek? ( r1000 v.1.05, to be more exact). That driver strangles my net connection, especially if HAL is running. The previous driver version (1.04) has other serious issues, but it does work properly with my onboard Gigabit PCIE 8168, and also the 2.6.19 kernel "r8169" module does work fine with my interface- but sadly enough it does not work at all with some other Realtek cards, so most serious bleeding edge distros come patched with the above troublesome 1.05 driver. Mostly the issue is on 2.6.19.X kernel, but it seems that older kernel revisions are affected, as well. So? scarecrow
Just bumping to say it has been repaired quite some time ago (2.6.20.4) by a fixed kernel module - marking it as solved.
