Hello, I'm running Mplayer and Mplayer-Plugin on my Mandriva 2007 PowerPack system, I also have the w32 Codecs All Package dated from 2006/10/22.

When I attempt to run Quicktime Videos from Apple's movie trailer. it will play and show me the pictures but there will be no sound.

I went to the Mplayer Plugin website and ran the tests and they all have the same issue. it will show me the picture but no sound.

Any suggestions. Thanks

If you have sound in other apps, I have the following questions:

Does this apply to all trailers or only specific trailers?

Have you installer mplayer from mandriva or from plf?

The plf version has been patched to include on library (libfaad if I recall the naam correctly) which decodes sound for some encoding. Quicktime is a container format that can contain sound & images encoded in all kind of different ways. I run with mplayer from plf & mplayerplugin and can view most. The only thing which fails often are HD-trailers -- typically the player crashes when I start playing. I can however usually retrieve the downloaded file from my ~/tmp directory where it will be sitting with a name starting with mplay followed by some random characters.

Try these links

FlashPlayer 9 beta ->

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer9.html

The plugin that links Mplayer to Firefox, automatically ->

http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/download.php

mplayer 3.31

I am using Mandriva 2006, Firefox 2, MPlayer 1.0pre8-Fedora-GS-4.0.2

Even though FlashPlayer 9 is beta, it is stable on my system.

Before I installed, I couldn't watch streaming video and audio.

Now I can.

Hope it helps.
