mystified
I went to run updatedb and got the following: [root@localhost mystified]# updatedb -u slocate: fatal error: Security level must be 0 or 1. I'm not sure what they mean by security level. When I installed I set it to normal. In mcc there's security for setting up a firewall but I never set one up which wouldn't apply to this anyway. Any suggestions? Thanks!
tyme
ignore what i said about msec [edited post, if you didn't read it then nevermind]...what you want to do is edit /etc/updatedb.conf, and look for the line: SECURITY= It should have some number after the "=", or it may not. Either way, set it to 0 or 1: SECURITY=
mystified
Thanks tyme. For an arch guy you come in handy. :P There was no security line in the conf file but I added it and I didn't get an error message so I have to assume it's working. Thanks! ianw1974
I get this all the time in Mandy and just ignore it. The updatedb command works OK anyway. What's the difference between setting zero or one in the file?
mystified
No idea ian. All I know is that I set it to 0 and no longer get the error.
ianw1974
Ah, OK, I'll have a look into it and see what option means what.
