arctic
Did you run from a terminal urpmi libxscrnsaver as root already? It should install the file you need for running skype. About the log-file, check again and don't forget that it might be "invisible" because it is stored in a hidden folder. Either activate hidden folder-view in your filemanager or run from a terminal ls -a /home/nimrod/workspace/.metadata/ in order to check if it is there. ianw1974
If there's no package available, sounds like you need to set up your easyurpmi repositories clicking the link at the top of this page and add main/contrib/updates/plf-free/plf-nonfree. AussieJohn
If you are using Mandriva 2007 then you can save a lot of urpmi setting up by first Opening MCC.........Select from where software packages are downloaded when updating the system. Click on the ADD tab and it will ask you whether you want ..Official Updates or Distribution Sources. Select the Distribution Sources by clicking on it and let the system run its course. When it completes you will have Main, MainUpdates, Contribs and Contribs Updates setup in MCC. then just go to the install packages section of MCC and select and install what you want. You will need to do the easy-urpmi process to set up for PLF-free and PLF-nonfree however. Cheers. John

tyme
[nimrod@localhost tmp]$ rpm -U skype-1.3.0.53-1mdk.i586.rpm rpm will not resolve dependencies. use urpmi instead: urpmi skype-1.3.0.53-1mdk.i586.rpm If there are dependency problems urpmi should resolve them. If urpmi fails please post it's output. And yes, to install anything you must be logged in as root. Simply issue the command su and enter your root password, then type the command above.
