Counterspy
Those who may feel that they are sick to death of popups, banner ads and the other numerous net annoyances should have a look at Privoxy. This is an excellent program which does all of the above and also allows parent filtering that is customised by the parent rather than being a block list like some Windows programs. It can be found at http://www.privoxy.org with a default action file and extensive docs. If you do not want to build the Mandrake version form source, you can locate it on rpmfind for Mandrake although it is several versions behind the latest. Michel
It seems ok but what is the use for it? Ok, if you have a local lan or any network, this proxy is handy, but else, what is better than not having it. Mozilla contains also popup-killing, image-blocking and a cookie-manager. I think you can also prevent redirection, but don't find it at the moment...
fuzzylizard
Opera 6.11 also contains this kind of technology. Turn it on and sit back and relax -- no more pop-ups, ads, etc.
johnnyv
Yes Mozilla has had popup blocking for a long time and it really works. The Newest versions of Mozilla have even more power. You can choose to allow/suppress popups and can specify excluded sites say if popups are needed to navigate on a site you need to use. You can set it to play a sound when a popup would have come up but is blocked and/or display a icon on the navigation status bar. On newer clients this is availible via edit->preferences-> privacy & security->popup windows Such a nice browser suite :) As for banner ads you can use those custom userContent.css scripts that work really well.
