theYinYeti
Overall, I'm impressed with OO2: it's much faster, and cleaner. Besides, I need this version for work, because no other word-processor (not even OO1) can read some DOC files I have. BUT I find OO2 is just unusable !!! Increadible, isn't it? Nice looking but unusable. Whenever I move the cursor on a line with a bullet, the bullets-toolbar opens, and focus shifts to it for example. My question: Is there any way I can dumb Open Office down, so that it does not do anything that I did not ask? I want it to behave like Abiword: I type words, and the words appear, I move around and the cursor changes place, just that. Is that too much to ask? Thanks in advance. Yves. ianw1974
I just click on the toolbar, and then choose "Dock All Toolbars" from the entry. Then it just appears at the top of screen, instead of disrupting your view.
theYinYeti
Yes but what if I don't want it? I often work on my laptop (800x600) and on this screen, an additional bar takes too much space. Besides, the whole window is redrawed each time the bar appears or disappears because the bar changes the geometry of the page area... Yves. neddie
I found that if the bullets toolbar is open, and you go to View -> Toolbars -> Bullets and Numbering (to deselect it), then it doesn't come back automatically. I'm not sure if there's a general option for this though.
theYinYeti
Thanks neddie! I've just tried it on the 'Arrays' toolbar, and it does seem to work; I'll see if it keeps working after I've closed and reopened OOO. :) Yves.
