Guest mikeman
My generic sound card was recognized when I ran Mandrake 8.2 but now that I have installed 9.0 it has not been detected. Is there something I can do to allow it to detect?
Michel
The easiest way to get it to work, is to run "draksound". try it. You'll get possible drivers for your soundcard.

Counterspy
Sndconfig is on your distro disks but is not installed by default. Dig it out and install it. It should solve your problems. Counterspy
Guest ndeb
The easiest way to get it to work, is to run "draksound". try it. You'll get possible drivers for your soundcard. The reason why sound has not been configured is because draksound was used by the mandrake installer. So using it again is not going to help. Sndconfig is on your distro disks but is not installed by default. Dig it out and install it. It should solve your problems.Hope it does. If it fails, please post the outputs of these commands: cat /proc/pci cat /etc/modules.conf cat /proc/modules ls -l /dev/dsp
Michel
Ok, it can be that draksound doesn't its job right, but if it is you're driver, you can choose it also manually with draksound...I had a problem with this once and it was fixed quickly this way.... If it fails, then u have to select it manually. I guess draksound gives u that very useful option. Hope that works in this case.
