Hi there,

I ve built a new system with a asus M2NPV-VM and I get some problems to install. Even with acpi=off, the install progresses normally then once I ve entered my name and pass, the progression sops on :

insmod_/tmp/forcedeth.ko

I ve tried with 2006 as well both block on the same thing. I decide to install opensusclick which installed fine.

Can anyone think of an install mode on which the sonfig would ignore this forcedeth.ko and finish the insatll??

The Chips are : nvidia C51, nforce 430 and geforce6150.

Thanks! :wall:

the focedeth is a module for the nic card.

Try to disable it in the bios for example (just ofr the install).

Also 2007 shipped with one magazine has an issue with dhcp,

so try to install without setting up any network interface,

this is not an acpi issue

you can try

noapic nolapic

New here but exactly spot on!

Excellent I ll try this tomorrow.

Indeed I have the dvd version from a magazine, I haven t tried with my mona dvd maybe I should.

In the meantime I have tried Suse 9 and 10 entrprise with no success. I eventually got a clean install using mandriva one that I am now updating via kiosk, and of course it s time to go to work!

Never mind!

Thanks for your help I ll keep posting my progresses

euh, thanks. The proof will be in the pudding (English saying)

Like your last post on k3b; got a similar problem

having it compiled from source. But can live without k3bsetup.

The mutual appreciation society ;)

LOL....

yeah in the end the setup doesn't do anything spectacular anyway..just adds the burning group (which you can do through kuser or similar) and changes the permissions of the /dev/dvd ....

Why compile from source though? I mainly use Debian but in both mandy and deb I try and use packages at least for really useful stuff :D not because I can't compile but it jhust gives me a cleaner and worry free system :D and often the stupid deps are hidden in a place you wouldn't look (like the kdesu)

I used to be a big compile everything freak.... but It just ends up taking over your life :D

thanks, figured as well that k3bsetup was not that important

Why compile from source though

because there was no newer version for mandy 2005,

and the version I had had display bugs.

saying that I agree too much compilation is a waste of time

We have hijacked the thread: still waiting for forcedeth

to give some news (maybe it is forcedeath that nic card)
