wakish
Hello guys! WAMP5 is a great package to run PHP/MySQL/Apache..etc.. on windows.. The very nice feature of this package is that it allows you run your PHP files in an offline mode..this way your pc is not exposed on the internet..so that you can just concentrate on your coding/working aspects.. I have tried to find an alternative for linux, but have not found anything so far.. Can anyone help me in this regard? Thanks.. Reiver_Fluffi
Surely if you install them and run them as services you should be able to do this without connecting to the net?
ianw1974
I agree, and even if you do this, you can use hosts.allow or hosts.deny to stop anyone connecting to port 80 on your machine anyway. And if you're behind a firewall, they can't connect unless the firewall is configured to allow the incoming connection to route to that machine. I've got apache and mysql installed on my machine, and php also when I was testing all three together. I don't use the hosts.allow/deny as my firewall blocks any incoming connections, and even if it did, the port forwarding isn't telling the firewall to get to my machine :P Or, have shorewall installed too, and not configured to accept the connection ;)
