Guest Paul Troke
I hav erecently installed Firebird relational database in order to run the Quasar accounting package. In MCC it is listed in the SERVICES section as run when required, but this does not appear to be working for me. Is there a way of forcing the service to start on boot - is this necessary or am I missing something with Firebird? I am told I can access it on port 3050, but don't seem to be able to. dexter11
We should know some error message to help you. To start a service on CLI you should type service <servicename> start as root. Post the error message here.
ianw1974
And if the service starts fine, do: chkconfig --list servicename and see if it has "on" against runlevels 3 and 5. If it doesn't, then: chkconfig servicename on replace servicename with firebird or whatever the service is called.
