problem in modem with kernel

i had a problem with my internal modem

 

(conexant hsf)

 

because i am using the mandrake10.1 powerpack whose kernal [2.6.8.1-12mdksmp]

 

and that kernal version is not in the driver download page for linuxant

so what i do to get my modem works

 

pleas help

You should be able to install using this:

http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/a...-1.i386.rpm.zip

 

Make sure you have the kernel-source for your currently running kernel installed first.

 

(If the RPM doesn't work you can try installing from source: http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/a....02full.tar.gz)

i am downloading that driver and i will try it and tell you

no i have one processor

 

 

and what you mean by install the default kernal not the smp one

 

and how to install it(step by step if possible)

The smp kernel is installed by default if the Mandriva installer detects an Intel hyperthreading CPU (new PIV's and Prescotts). If not used, then hyperthreading isn't utilized by the "normal" kernel.

So: If you have a CPU with hyperthreading support, then the smp kernel is the most appropriate for you (although the normal one will also work).

PLEAS HELP ME WITH THIS

 

 

 

that what i had when trying acces the interne with kppp actually when i try quary a modem

is that right to be like this

 

but the modem didnot give me any dial tone and i still cannot access he internet

 

oh ,i forget that my modem is already installed i found the driver in the installation cd3 for mandrake10.1

 

now i have this problem dears,
