scarecrow Posted August 16, 2006 Report Share Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) The smp kernel is installed by default if the Mandriva installer detects an Intel hyperthreading CPU (new PIV's and Prescotts). If not used, then hyperthreading isn't utilized by the "normal" kernel. So: If you have a CPU with hyperthreading support, then the smp kernel is the most appropriate for you (although the normal one will also work). scarecrow Posted August 17, 2006 Report Share Posted August 17, 2006 For the first time, run kppp as root and try the /dev/ttySHSF0 device. Can you query that device?
