scarecrow
A couple of GeForce2 MX cards will work only with the older "legacy" 7174 nvidia driver- not the new ones. Which exact model do you have?

bonebags
can anyone tell me how to uninstall my dodgy driver as the graphics are terrible. its a NVIDIA geforce 2 mx running on mandriva 2006
scarecrow
Simplest thing is just changing "nvidia" to "nv" in /etx/X11/xorg.conf and restarting the x-server... and if that does not work trying "vesa" instead of "nv". You could also try the legacy driver (7174), I know that some GF2 MX-200 series cards work better with that one (or not at all with the newer driver), while GF2 MX 400/440 cards work OK with both drivers. EDIT: Just saw that nvidia recently issued a newer legacy driver, namely 7182: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display...2_1.0-7182.html You may give that one a spin... after uninstalling the old one. Did you install it from RPM, or from the nvidia installer? Edited August 7, 2006 by scarecrow
speedball2
Where it says "Virtual 800 600" in the screens section you could try changing it to something like: Modes "1024x768_85" "800x600" That may help. Let us know :) (that's without uninstalling the drivers) :) Edited August 7, 2006 by speedball2
