ianw1974
Getting squid working is easy, your hard part is allocating a limit of 20 hours and requiring an account to do it. You might need some plugins for squid, check the squid home page out, there might be some stuff on there. It is all possible however, I looked into it recently, but I'm out of the office, so can't say what I made a note of now.
tr3s
tnx ian. it seems that only the authentication part is available in squid but not the billing or timer feature. im also looking for commercial software for this. is there any software for linux that functions the same as usergate for windows? ianw1974
I've been recently doing work on Trend Micro products, you could always have a look at them. There's one called IWSS which might have the functionality you're looking for. And this will run on Windows/Linux/Solaris. There's also an appliance, in case you don't want to install IWSS, and this is called IWSA. They have more functionality than just a proxy server though.
