Hey guys,

I'm currently living in Xuzhou, China and getting hardware in English, much less being SUPPORTED, is a BITCH. Anyway, I'm CURRENTLY using a DareGlobal ADSL MODEM.. I know I know.. not on the list but I'm hoping I can get it to work anyway (my previous USB ADSL modem sucked as well... little more luck with this one.) I'm currently running Mandriva 2006 and I'm using rp-pppoe to connect it. I've set up the connection and it connects after running 'adsl-start' but then when I try any websites, no luck. I've tried pinging a few nameservers as well (dont' know too many ips) and no luck either. Connection is fine however. It works perfectly under Windows (of course) however. I don't know what sort of information you'll need posted. Does anyone have any information on how I could get this to work out? I'm hoping it's just a simple fix and that I dont' have something set up correctly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First check that you've got an IP address:

ifconfig -a

and see if it has. If so, this is OK. Then check /etc/resolv.conf and see if it has nameservers listed.

cat /etc/resolv.conf

if this is OK, check the routes:

netstat -r

and see if you have a default gateway. If all that checks out, then make sure IPV6 is disabled by adding this line to /etc/modprobe.conf:

alias net-pf-10 off

and reboot and try again.
