keropi
I have this MS mouse, but the back/forward buttons do not work and when I press them they have the same effect as pressing the wheel-button... any chance of getting this to work like it does in windows? it is a very handy feature... ThanX! :D Edited June 29, 2006 by keropi

ianw1974
Have a look in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and look for the section on mouse. There is information as to how the mouse is configured and we may need to make some changes in here. Perhaps post this section, or the complete xorg.conf so we can help what we need to change to enable it.

ianw1974
The key line is this: Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7" try changing "6 7" to "4 5" and reboot and see if that helps.
theYinYeti
There are two steps in what you want to achieve: 1- Get all buttons to be recognized. 2- Assign actions (back/forward) to two of those buttons. 1- See here if that helps (unless all buttons are already OK): http://yves.gablin.club.fr/gablin.php?page...le=config_mouse 2- There's probably a better way, but I suppose you could map the buttons to Alt+Left and Alt+Right when in your browser using ImWheel. tyme
try adding this line: Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 4 5" to your mouse device section, so it reads like this: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 4 5" Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7" EndSection make sure to keep ZAxisMapping "6 7" and not "4 5"

tyme
My mistake :P well, not so much a mistake. different mice have the buttons numbered differently (depending on the signal they send). it gets really messy when you're trying to find the right config.
