I am trying to get my USB ports working with mandriva.. totally newbie... In particular I am trying to hotsync my Palm with kpilot. I can press autodetect in kpilot. It detects it as /dev/tty/usb01. I get the signal that it is hotsyncing and then the kpilot freezes... and i get an output on my palm about 2 minutes later stating that it the communication with kpilot was lost. Anyone know how to resolve this? I think it may have something to do with my USB setup...

[root@localhost Desktop]# lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 035: ID 0830:0060 Palm, Inc. Palm Tungsten T / Zire 71
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
[root@localhost Desktop]#

any help?

Start the palm first, and then initiate the hotsync with kpilot. I also recommend jpilot.

I cannot get j-pilot to work either

How do i tell what dev my usb device is on? (ie dev/tty/usb01)

and how do i setup ports in linux...

I am having a similar problem with my cell phone ... it recoginizes it and it shows up in lsusb.

but in bitpim (the cell phone prog) it doesnt allow me to access the port.
