hello... I am having a problem with the synaptics touchpad on my hp pavilion dv1000 laptop. I have gone into the kde touchpad setup and enabled taping but i can only tap on the right top corner... even that is quarky..(i have to tap that corner several times before it will accept the tap). I used the mandriva one disc tapping worked just like it did in (dare i mention it....) winxp. SO i am at a loss.. do i need to configure the xorg.confg file?? I am a total noob.. i have ksynaptics installed and i have qsynaptics installed too.. but i cannot figure this out ....

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks Nick

My Acer laptop works just fine without any configuration on my part. I also have a usb laptop mouse that works like it should, so I am certain that the os in not the issue. I did not do any set-up in kde at all. I'll try and see if I can break it and then fix it!

OK. My Acer also uses a synaptics pad. Everything, including the scroll device, works as is. When I look at the setup, it does not emulate a wheel.
