make sure you have installed qt-devel packages

I have just checked it

 [root@localhost nickbacich]# urpmi qt-devel
The package(s) are already installed
The following package names were assumed: PyQt-devel
[root@localhost nickbacich]#

Is PyQt-devel the same?

try

.

#urpmi libqt3-devel

This is what i get

[root@localhost nickbacich]# urpmi libqt3-devel
The following packages can't be installed because they depend on packages
that are older than the installed ones:
libqt3-devel-3.3.4-23mdk
Continue? (Y/n)

I always answer no since it is older than the one that is installed.

Should i say yes?

just dont continue, try to resolve first the conflict.. where did you get your installed qt? if it came from the urpmi default repos, there should not be a problem...

or before you install, try to update your repos first.. there might be some changes or update

#urpmi.update -a -v

that would update all of your repositories...

then try the install again

should i get all of these errors?

it seems that carroll.cac.psu.edu is not in good shape.. try to use easyurmi again to add another mirror for updates, those that are active..

ok I have here.. copy and paste in your konsole,

remove the old updates first..

.

urpmi.removemedia updates

.

then add the new one

.

urpmi.addmedia --update updates ftp://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrakelinux/official/updates/2006.0/
main_updates/ with media_info/hdlist.cz

Im not sure what packages cause the conflict.. but since its qt-devel, might be that the QT itself have conflict with its devel packages, how did you install QT? if you installed it via urpmi, then there should be no problem, but if you've installed it manually by searching rpm packages of it on rpmbone or similar, then that might be the cause of conflict....

  • 2 months later...

can you please post, what exactly you have done to avoid this thing. Just remove the directory where the QT is in(in my case /usr/lib/qt3) or something else? Because i have the same problem as yours&i need to install QT and KDevelop(all of this two have the same problem) by tomorrow.

You mean you installed an rpm from rpmfind or an other outer source? Just use the software uninstaller to get rid of that package or urpme on the command line.

Then install kdevelop.

I tried that. But the thing is that i cannot uninstall qt3lib, without uninstalling all sorts of thing including kde, kdebase, java&all sorts of program like K3b and amarok. The full list is down bellow.
Because of their dependencies, the following package(s) also need to be

removed:

amarok-1.3.1-3mdk, amarok-engine-arts-1.3.1-3mdk, aqhbci-qt-tools-1.0.5-0.beta.2mdk,

arts-1.4.2-2.1.20060mdk, digikam-0.8.0-3.1.20060mdk,

k3b-dvd-0.12.3-11mdk, kaffeine-0.7-6.1.20060mdk, kdeaccessibility-3.4.2-1mdk,

kdeaddons-searchbar-3.4.2-10mdk, kdeartwork-3.4.2-3mdk,

kde-i18n-en_GB-3.4.3-1mdk, kdelibs-common-3.4.2-31.4.20060mdk,

The partially the same list shows when i tried to remove qt3-common. So in case I don't want to remove all this things, what should I do instead?
