rogerh
Hello, The assessment about my monitor being bad appears to be correct. Hated it so much went down and got a Hyundai B90A LCD. Works great with Windows XP. Linux is not so good. Beautiful boot screen, looks good for a short while during early system loading, and then it stops with " video mode not supported". Put back on the old monitor and selected plug and play for monitor selection, hoping that might help, but no luck. Is there something I have to load, or some settings I need to change - or do I need a different monitor. The guy at the store assured me it would work with Windows as well as Linux, and so far he is only half right. Any help would be appreciated - I'm stuck on the old monitor until I figure it out........ and I have 30 days to return if necessary. Thanks -- Roger
coverup
Try to configure the X server again. When you will be asked about your monitor, select the exact model from the list. If your monotor is not listed, the "generic flat panel" selection usually works fine.
rogerh
Hello, The specific monitor was not listed, but the generic flat panel DID work!! Up and running - thanks so much (and not particularly painful either...................) Regards -- Roger
