mandi daemon problem [solved]

Hi everybody,

 

When I start up Mandriva 2006 on my laptop (Toshiba A100-510) I get the following error when the mandi daemon is loaded:

ay 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: Failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: No reply within specified time
May 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: 3369: arguments to dbus_connection_send() were incorrect, assertion "connection != NULL" failed in file dbus-connection.c line 2008.
May 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: This is normally a bug in some application using the D-BUS library.
May 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: 3369: arguments to dbus_connection_flush() were incorrect, assertion "connection != NULL" failed in file dbus-connection.c line 2462.
May 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: This is normally a bug in some application using the D-BUS library.
May 13 09:05:35 laptop mandi: mandi startup failed

 

Does anybody know what this is and how it can be fixed?

mandi service was something to help with the firewall for alerts. In all honesty, you don't really need it, and can disable this service:

 

chkconfig --list | grep mandi

 

will display the services matching mandi in their name, and then to disable:

 

chkconfig mandi off

 

if the service is called mandi, otherwise substitute with correct name.

I have exactly the same problem on my laptop. Mandi is the Interactive Firewall software, but it doesn't work anymore. I had some older version and it worked for a while, but now I'm getting the same error. Weird..

I never noticed mandi actually ever working :P
