MadHattr Posted February 23, 2003 Report Share Posted February 23, 2003 I have a new Olympus d-550 Zoom Digital camera and i want to get it running in mandrake 9 Im running the new KDE 3.1 and i went to the kde menu clicked on Configuration >KDE > Pheripherals > Digital Camera and i went to look for my model camera in the list i didnt find it but found the D-500 and the D-600 but my question is my camera doenst seem to have any other way of connecting it to a computer other than USB ??? and neither the d-500 or d-600 "drivers im guessing" had anything on them for USB??? am i on the right track here? i havent found any tutorials on digital cameras in linux too bad http://www.trylinuxsd.com/ doesnt have one :) .... But basicaly im woundering if any of you might have any clue as to what i should be doing or what to do to get my camera working in mandrake 9 ... mtweidmann Posted February 24, 2003 Report Share Posted February 24, 2003 Does your camera have removable memory cards? If so the usual advice is to buy a USB card reader. These are straight forword to set up and avoid all the problems of getting the camera to work. If you really want to get the camera to work, then check out gphoto2. http://www.gphoto.com/ There are several very good graphical front ends fo it.
