javaguy
HP Photosmart 2575 scanning not working-- This worked under Manrake 10.1. It was sometimes a little flaky, but it wasn't really supported then either, so I didn't mind. I was able to scan documents. I recently installed Mandriva, and now xsane says it can't find a scanner and exits. I went into MCC->Hardware->Set Up Scanner, and it recognized the all-in-one, said it isn't in the database and asked if I want to configure it manually. I said yes and have tried various of the HP options it listed, but still when I fire up xsane it just says it can't find any scanners. Sound. This too worked under Mandrake 10.1. It says it finds the sound card, I double-checked that the volume is turned up, but I can't hear anything. :(
polemicz
As a hunch, can you run xsane as root? It may be a permissions issue.
michaelcole
For the sound it is not muted some where and it is using the correct driver.. Assuming you are using KDE go into the System config - KDE - Sound System Check the hardware setting there and see it if gives you any errors or works.. scarecrow
http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-hp.5.html I can read there: The "hp" backend no longer supports OfficeJet multi-function peripher- als. For these devices use the external "hpoj" backend in version 0.90 and later of the "HP OfficeJet Linux driver", available at http://hpoj.sourceforge.net Because Hewlett-Packard does no longer produce scanners that support SCL (beside the OfficeJets), the above list of supported scanners is complete. Other HP scanners are not supported by the "hp" backend, but might be supported by another one. See http://www.sane-project.org/. You can also watch the sane-devel mailinglist at http://www.sane- project.org/mailing-lists.html. More details about the hp backend can be found on its homepage http://www.kirchgessner.net/sane.html So it does not look like Mandriva's fault, but rather HP's. You can try any of these two backends- whichever works.
