Hey

I have a winxp box connected to a netcomm nb5plus4 4 port router in port 1.

Then port 2 to a mandrake linux box. Router/modem supports dhcp and i just have that setup. Linux box just set network to dhcp. I can ping all devices on the network from either computer but cannot access any webpages or ping anything outside network.

the usual ips that are setup

Windows Box: 192.168.1.33

Linux Box : 192.168.1.34

Router/Modem : 192.168.1.1

Subnet 225.225.225.0

I have no port blocking on linux box or anywhere

Any ideas why i can't access webpages

Thanks

Can your Windows machine access web pages correctly?

What network card is in your Mandrake/Mandriva machine? Is it a Realtek 8139 by any chance?

Is the default gateway on every machine configured to point to the router? What is the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf file?

It could be an ipv6 issue, you can disable ipv6 by editing /etc/modprobe.conf and adding the following line:

alias net-pf-10 off

this normally sorts out some issues relating to this sort of stuff. If Firefox isn't working, disable ipv6 in Firefox. There is a Tips and Trick on this in Tips and Tricks forum on this board.
