maparus
I come to Mandriva after trying Ubuntu, Suse 9.1, Suse 10.0, Mepis, and Xandros and Mandriva 2006 seems to work better than all the other distros I tried. One little problem so far and it's not a biggy but with all the other distros I've used when you click on an icon on the desktop a smaller icon appears and starts bouncing to show the program is loading. Not so with Mandriva the small icon appears but is not animated and I can't seem to find out how to animate it Many thanks maparus
SoulSe
When you say 'desktop' do you mean Gnome? KDE? Other? That was most likely a feature of the Desktop Environment or Window Manager being used by those distributions, not necessarily the distros themselves (unless they specifically altered the DE / WM for customisation). So lets first find out which one you were using in those other distros and then we can help you get the same effect going in Mandriva.
