My startup will stop at nfs file systems and stay there for about 20 min easy.

I have a 2.4 AMD and I am running Mandrake 10.2 LE with KDE 3.3.

I am connecting to XP Box for the internet and I changed my IP recently. Could that the be the problem. I am also unable to change the old IPś for some reason????

Please help me

Do you need nfs? Are you using it for anything? If not, I would remove it using:

urpme nfs-utils
urpme nfs-utils-clients

also, since nfs has been removed, you can also disable portmap service, as well as netfs if it exists.

I've also deleted your other post, since it was a duplicate.

Great question

unfortunately I don't have the answer. :P

I really don't know what it does.

I will tell you what I do on my network. I have mandrake 10.2 LE with KDE3.3

and I connect through my XP box to the internet via a lan.

Thanx for the reply

No, it won't stop the LAN, it's a service that's related to unix file sharing between unix systems, so you'll be fine. The services in question are:

netfs

nfs

nfslock

portmap

I've disabled these on mine, no problems as I don't use NFS.

Check and disable a service called netfs and portmap as well. These can be disabled with:

chkconfig netfs off

chkconfig portmap off

Also check your /etc/fstab file to see if there are entries in here relating to nfs mounts.
