ianw1974
Do you need nfs? Are you using it for anything? If not, I would remove it using: urpme nfs-utils urpme nfs-utils-clients also, since nfs has been removed, you can also disable portmap service, as well as netfs if it exists. I've also deleted your other post, since it was a duplicate.
Kowash
Do you need nfs? Are you using it for anything? Great question unfortunately I don't have the answer. :P I really don't know what it does. I will tell you what I do on my network. I have mandrake 10.2 LE with KDE3.3 and I connect through my XP box to the internet via a lan. Thanx for the reply kowash
ianw1974
Nope you probably don't need it then. NFS is for sharing files between Linux systems. As your not doing this, you can safely remove them, and the problem you have as well.

Will it stop the lan between my 2 linux systems? Kowash
ianw1974
No, it won't stop the LAN, it's a service that's related to unix file sharing between unix systems, so you'll be fine. The services in question are: netfs nfs nfslock portmap I've disabled these on mine, no problems as I don't use NFS.

ianw1974
Check and disable a service called netfs and portmap as well. These can be disabled with: chkconfig netfs off chkconfig portmap off Also check your /etc/fstab file to see if there are entries in here relating to nfs mounts.
