SPECIALIST125 Posted January 28, 2006 Report Share Posted January 28, 2006 Ok I have Comcast cable and my Mandriva-Move is able to connect to the internet but I also have Quest DSL and it will not connect to the net. This wouldn't be a problem, but soon I will not have the cable connection only the DSL. I have only used linux for 2 day and I dont have a clue how to get the DSL to connect. arctic Posted January 29, 2006 Report Share Posted January 29, 2006 Before we start, please give some more information: Hardware you will be using for networking (usb-modem, cable dsl modem, routers, ...) and type of network (static IP or DHCP (=changing IP obtained with networking card eth0). Is it a wireless setup? Give us as much information as you can. SPECIALIST125 Posted January 29, 2006 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2006 Well the computer will not be set on a network at this time single user computer. The thmodem is from Quest and it is a DSL Modem with wireless Gateway by ActionTec. I would guess that since it is DSL the IP will be dynamic right?(I'm could be wrong). scarecrow Posted January 29, 2006 Report Share Posted January 29, 2006 It should work within one minute: Connect the router via ethernet, open the router's web interface via your preferred browser, activate the DHCP server and passing in the dial details. SPECIALIST125 Posted January 31, 2006 Author Report Share Posted January 31, 2006 Ok using my DSL. I have two web browers of choice konqueror and Firefox my problem is this will konqueror half work and firefox keep timing out. When im in my yahoo mail and want to rely, forword,etc the buttons will not activate. It is like it is treating it as a picture or somthing. I would like to get both of these working. I also found the in yahoo mail the delete, spam, and move buttons work just not reply and forward. Since the topic has changed from "can't get DSL working" to "can't get my browsers working" I suggest you start a new topic. This way the new title will probably get you more responses. SPECIALIST125 Posted February 1, 2006 Author Report Share Posted February 1, 2006 Yes that is right Firefox just times out (Not connecting) and Konqueror has a problem with the reply and forward buttons all others seems to work fine. I will start a new post about the browser but originally I had problem with the DSL which led to these problem so I just thought I would ask here.
