Guest mikeshen
hello there, we downloaded mandriva 2006 free version. and we used accuhash checked the iso images. all match. we use nero to write cds. but disc1 is not working. the install fails at perl rpm or freezing on display configuration(TNT2). the sha1 checksum of disc1 is different from the iso image. but disc2,disc3's sha1 checksum is the same with the iso image. this baffled us. any ideas about this problem? any input welcome. Regards, Michael
Ixthusdan
Bad burn of disk one? Reburn it and see. Slow burn, like 12x or less.

scarecrow
Reburn disk #1, and although the dumbass Roman Emperor is supposed to set that automatically, get sure that you burn in Disk-At-Once (DAO) mode...
Guest mikeshen
thanks for the reply. I am still struggling with disc1 image. Disk-At-Once (DAO) mode is enabled in nero, as well as overburn. I tried virtual clone cd, the mounted disc1 image is different from the iso itself. I tried using md5 sums, the result is the same: iso image checksum ok, but disc1 is not. reburn at lower speed, still no luck. any help appreciated. Ixthusdan
Next thing to change is the media, although I can't imagine why the last 2 would burn good and the first not burn good. If you have dsl or cable internet access, you could install a base system and then do the rest online after setting up urpmi. I did this once sometime during the 9 series, and it woeks prety well. But you do need broadband or you won't be happy!
