Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help me on this... I am trying to install Mandriva 2006 DVD issue onto a laptop I have. The laptop doesnt have any DVD drives so I decided to try a network install (plus I have no blank cdrs) OK so I have copied the entire DVD to a folder on the FTP server (on DMZ using Serv-U on a WinXP box IP 192.168.0.2) I then found a cdrw which I promptly installed the boot.iso onto. So my problem is this. The laptop connects to the FTP server no problem but just before it loads the GUI on the laptop I see an error

Version file missing

it then goes into partioning which I do. It then comes back with an error stating that

INTERNAL ERROR: no kernel available

 I looked on the FTP server for any logs which may help

This is at the end of the log.. Any light on this would be greatly appreciated...

TIA

Sounds like maybe the Install routine is searching for a "version" file that it is not finding. This could be because it is using an absolute path to the file instead of a relative one.

Don't ask me how to fix it, I don't know. But it is something to think about anyway...
