Guest Neo Ex
Hi to all. Sorry for the stupid question... I'm not a Mandriva user, but in the past I used Mandrake and I like the default fonts, but I don't know what's their name... So... what the name of the default fonts in Mandriva? And, if you know where I can find a deb package, can you tell me it? Thanks EDIT: I mean the default font under KDE. devries
The default font is called DejaVu.
Guest Neo Ex
I'm using DejaVu, too, but my fonts aren't like the Mandriva's one. How is setted the antialiasing? P.S. Look at this screenshot: Are your fonts like the menu on the right?
devries
I´m using dejavu like you. These fonts look fine though. I think it´s the lighter background that makes the fonts on the left look clearer. Antialias: use anti alias for all font sizes.
Guest Neo Ex
Can you attach your DejaVu font file? (What a stupid question, right? :D ) Edited January 3, 2006 by Neo Ex
devries
Its to big. (1.4 MB) Anyway it came with mandriva. If you have the install CD find the font rpm and extract it from there.
Guest Neo Ex
Fortunately, I have the three CD images of Mandrake 10.1. But I tried to search for several font packages, but I didn't find the DejaVu. Do you know the name of the package where DejaVu is contained? Thanks (especially for your patience :D ) Edited January 3, 2006 by Neo Ex
uralmasha
Bitstream Vera is an alias for dejaVu on my system. Edited January 4, 2006 by uralmasha
devries
Its called fonts-ttf-dejavu-1.4-1mdk.noarch.rpm. :) carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrakelinux/devel/10.1/i586/media/contrib/fonts-ttf-dejavu-1.4-1mdk.noarch.rpm Extract with: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...099&hl=rpm2cpio
Guest Neo Ex
I downloaded the file, but it is the same file I also have... so I think that is the antialiasing in Mandriva that makes that DejaVu different from the mine. Thank you from you answers and your patience anyway ;)
Guest Neo Ex
Hi to all, I'm back :) In this time I've discovered that the fonts rendering settings are in ~/.fonts.conf (don't worry, I've thought to other things other than fonts rendering in the while :D). So... anyone can post the content of his (original) .fonts.conf? Thanks.
daniewicz
You are using KDE so go to: Control Center Appearance & Themes Fonts Font preferences selected here are written to ~/.fonts.conf. On my system, I have modified this file to disable autohinting for bold fonts by adding <!-- Disable Autohinting for bold fonts --> <match target="font"> <test name="weight" compare="more"> <const>medium</const> </test> <edit name="autohint" mode="assign"><bool>false</bool></edit> </match> This is what my ~/.fonts.conf looked like before the above was added: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd"> <fontconfig> <match target="font" > <edit mode="assign" name="hinting" > <bool>true</bool> </edit> </match> <match target="font" > <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle" > <const>hintslight</const> </edit> </match>
Guest Neo Ex
Thanks, but nothing changed. Mmm... can somebody attach the file contained in /etc/fonts, or maybe tell me the rpm package in what they are contained? Thank you Edited February 12, 2006 by Neo Ex
