den myos
how do i come about installing a windows client, from a mandrake server 9.2. im using pxe boot, but resently we got new computers, which mandrake don't reconice. (probely due to sata disc) i need to make the client boot right up to the server and get the windows images (sysprep) and install it. is there anyway to do this fairly easy. im a noob. mvh den
ianw1974
Welcome to the board Mandrake 9.x probably won't because it's running on an older kernel. Mandrake 10.0/10.1, LE2005 or 2006 would most likely support the hardware. However, your question is pertaining to PXE boot. Have you set the BIOS to boot from a PXE network card? If not, then you'll have to do this. And you'll have to make sure it's before the hard disk, unless the hard disk is empty (ie: FDISK'd). And if you have a PXE server running already, and it is issuing DHCP addresses, then the machine should already be able to connect if it was working previously. den myos
the pxe should work, cause the client can boot on the network and find the partimag (appz), which is on the server. but it possible to upgrade mandrake 9.2 to mandriva with out to much hassle. more or less cd in, and thats it.
