photoworks
since i installed mandriva 2006, i can now get my machine in standby or suspend However when i come back from standby or suspend. it turns out that the system do no restore my session but open a fresh one as if i had log out which means that i cannot leave any document open on my desktop when i want to go in standby or suspend. Is that a normal behavior or if not what settings do i have to change/what connand do i have to type. By the way, my machine is a dell inspiron 4150 as mentionned below. lavaeolus
After resume I just have a locked screensaver which asks for my password (at least in gnome), but all my applications are there, for KDE I can't tell yet, since I don't use KDE very much I use gdm as login-manager, maybe it depends on which you use ? At least, I don't think it's normal behavior to log you out
ianw1974
Check under System/Configuration/KDE/Components/Session Manager. Check if your session is set to resume, or whether it starts with a new one. By default from installation, it's normally set to resume as far as I know. ianw1974
Sorry, I wasn't in Linux to mention what it said exactly, but "Restore Previous Session" is selected, so should do the trick. Have a check under PowerControl and see what options are available under there. There are various tabs that relate to standby, suspend etc. But if they are greyed out, you need to use the Helper Button on the main screen to enable each of the options.
