Arne
Hello All, Running 2006OE yesteday I added my media and this morning I run a total update (urpmi --update --auto-select) and got an error message concerning "hylaFax" like this: Setup program for HylaFAX (tm) 4.2.1. Created for i586-mandriva-linux-gnu on Thu Oct 6 11:01:32 MDT 2005. Found encoder: base64-encode /usr/sbin/faxsetup: line 790: capture: command not found Looks like /usr/bin/uuencode does not support base64 encoding. Checking system for proper client configuration. Setting Ghostscript font path in /usr/share/fax/hyla.conf. Warning: /home/arne/.fonts does not exist or is not a directory! The directory /home/arne/.fonts does not exist or this file is not a directory. This is the directory where the HylaFAX client applications expect to locate font metric information to use in formatting ASCII text for submission as facsimile. Without this information HylaFAX may generate illegible facsimile from ASCII text. Warning: /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts does not exist or is not a directory! The directory /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts does not exist or this file is not a directory. This is the directory where the HylaFAX client applications expect to locate font metric information to use in formatting ASCII text for submission as facsimile. Without this information HylaFAX may generate illegible facsimile from ASCII text. I remember during the original installation of 2006 I got a similar message but I didn't tend to it since other tasks had to be done first. How do I remedy this? Where is the ".fonts" for "/home/arne" and "fonts" for /usr/share/ghostscript??? And not to forget what is the meaning of this: /usr/sbin/faxsetup: line 790: capture: command not foundLooks like /usr/bin/uuencode does not support base64 encoding. devries
http://www.hylafax.org/ Hylafax is a fax program. Do you need it? If no, ignore the errors.
Arne
hello devries, Thank's for the reply. I need it sometimes but it's not a big issue for me.
ianw1974
I remember receiving the same error, but I don't use it, and not sure if it actually affects the way hylafax works or not. When you do use it, does it work OK? No problems?
Arne
Hello Ian, Thank's for reply. No I have not tried it yet. I just get upset when I get the same error messages and when I get the word FATAL. It seems to me that this program has been trown into the distro at the very last moment without consideration of the mdv install procedure. ianw1974
I've seen these errors since 10.1 Official, this was where I first noticed it, so seems an ongoing thing that nobody has thought about too much.
aioshin
I never encountered any hylafax error on my 10.1 Fax Server, everyday it receives several fax messages and then route it to the users emails, though the Hylafax Fax server that I installed came directly from hylafax.org, an rpm for redhat 9 then, but the hylafax client that I am using are those from mandriva..... well, am not yet using 2006, but just recently I installed Hyla on my le2005 desktop and It did'nt gave me problem... and again, I did not install the halyfax server from mandriva, I installed the one found at hylafax.org, the rpm for rh9... Found encoder: base64-encode/usr/sbin/faxsetup: line 790: capture: command not found Looks like /usr/bin/uuencode does not support base64 encoding. try to check this http://www.hylafax.org/archive/2005-07/msg00072.html Warning: /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts does not exist or is not a directory! maybe you need to install ghostscript if you have' nt yet...
