CUPS Printing Error

I am trying to set up a printer that spools print jobs to a printer that's attached to a WinXP box on my home network (no password). I run the smbclient command and it shows the printer.

smbclient -L compaq -N

hpoffice Printer hp officejet v series

I then set up the printer using localhost:631. I set it up as a SAMBA printer to Windows and I provide the smb address. Here's the /etc/cups/printers.conf:

# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.23

# Written by cupsd on Tue 25 Oct 2005 05:03:00 AM EDT

<DefaultPrinter hpoff>

Info HP Officejet v40

Location compaq

DeviceURI smb://compaq/hpoffice

State Idle

Accepting Yes

JobSheets none none

QuotaPeriod 0

PageLimit 0

KLimit 0

</Printer>

All looks good, but no print jobs come out. I look in /var/log/cups/error_log and I see:

[Job 3] Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: No ticket cache found for userid=0

[Job 3] Can not get the ticket cache for root

[Job 3] Tree connect failed

Any thoughts? I've been at this for a while and I can't seem to crack it.

Thanks.

I think the uri for your samba printer may be wrong. Back when I had a printer on a Windows machine there was a change in the format for these uri's. I know I replied to a post here with the correct format. Do a search. Back then the cups docs didn't give much help and I found the change by googling. Sorry I can't be more specific now, but check out that uri.
