Guest Gussie
Basic questions about Mandrake setup needed by savvy Windows techie who's a complete beginnier to Mandrake. Problem during/after installation of Mandrake 10.0: Cannot create internet connection using dialup. Issues: Although installation was done with American English/U.S. as language choice, only European IP's are listed during internet setup procedure. Default was Austria/Simon Media. On Modem Com 2, of four choices for connection--Script-based, PAP, CHAP, or PAP/CHAP, all return with the error message: "Your computer does not seem to be connected to the internet. Reconfigure. I have also tried other COM choices to no avail. Anybody with dialup knowledge who can give a step-by-step? Many thanks! Gussie Moved from Installing Mandriva by theYinYeti. Welcome aboard! ianw1974
Welcome to the board Most dialup connections are PAP. All you'd need to supply are the dialup details for your connection, along with username and password. If you have a static IP, then you'd need to allocate this too, along with all the other relevant details, such as default gateway, DNS Servers and so forth. If not, then you can leave as DHCP and it'll figure it out when you connect. I don't use dialup myself (ADSL), but this should be all you need to supply to get up and running as far as I know. aioshin
I think, you are selecting the wizard mode of creating new accounts... If you have your local ISP, try to do the manual setup instead.....
