Guest MajinNitz
ARRRG Could someone please help me configure proftpd.conf so that it will allow a genererif ftp group / user with a password. I made many changes so if someone could cut and paste just a Basic Working file it would be appreciated. I know how to restart the daemon and everything, also, my group file has this entry: ftp:x:75: also my passwd has this entyr: ftp:x:75:75:system user for proftpd:/dev/null/:/bin/false so as you can see i dont want o give out shell acoounts or nothing, just file access. PLEASE helm :)
aru
I can't help you to configure proftpd correctly, but I can tell you an easy way to restore the original configuration of proftpd.conf: just use "mc" or "gmc" (midnight commander) to browse the original proftpd.rpm file that is in your disks and copy the "/etc/proftpd.conf" from inside the rpm package to the real /etc/ directory. tvlad
You should go to www.proftpd.org, there you can find several configurations, ranging from basic to quite complex ones.
Ronin
Have you considered using webmin to do this? I set up my ftp server using webmin in about 5 minutes. I had a small problem with /bin/false but I got the worked out also.
