Here are some precisions :

$ cat /proc/asounf/devices
16: [0- 0]: digital audio playback
24: [0- 0]: digital audio capture
 0: [0- 0]: ctl
 1:       : sequencer
33:       : timer

And if I play some wav file like this

$ aplay -D hw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/logout.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/logout.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Stereo
aplay: pcm_write:1146: write error: Input/output error

the music is repeated several tiles ???

and it crashes....

Ummm... have you tried reconfiguring your soundcard already with alsaconf? And are you using ALSA or OSS as output devices? (check that in kcontrol) Try some of the alternatives and report back if it still crashes.

Good luck.
