How to make a partiton writable?

Im still looking for a solution how to make my partitions accessable the moment I log in.

 

Anyone with advice?

below is my partition hda7 formatted as fat32, here is th entry of my fstab, you can manually edit your fstab though....

vfat = fat32 filesystem

umask = 0 - means that it is writable by ordinary users, if its 22, it is readable only

 

or you can also go to MCC, mountpoints, partition, select the partition you wish to mount, click the labes toggle expert mode, then options.. there you can set umask from 22 to 0 (zero) and other parameters....

 

/dev/hda7 /mnt/windows vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850 0 0

What and where is the "fstab" and "MMC"

 

I do know where the mountpoints are (and Im proud of it ;) )

fstab is a text configuration file in the /etc directory, and "mcc" (not mmc) is Mandriva Control Center. Simply press alt+F2 and then type in "kdesu mcc" to run it (root password required).

Just typing in mcc in the konsole will open MCC and then ask for your root password since MCC will ONLY open with a root password.
