Guest Cac3700
I'm running mandrake 9.0 and I need to know how to set up my DSL modem via USB. If anyone could help, that'd be great. Thanks in advance.
devries
You really need to give some more information like: why are you still using Mandriva 9.0? What manufacturer/model modem do you have? What have you tried already?

AussieJohn
Two things here. First of all try to get your hands on a copy of Mandriva2005-LE. It is so far more advanced over 9.0 that there is no comparison. Congratulations on being prepared to try Mandriva in the first place even if it is an older edition. Secondly, has your modem got a LAN port as well as a USB port ???. If it has then do not use it in usb mode, use it in LAN instead. If you use LAN it will only take you about 5minutes at most to be connected to the net. If you try to use USB you will be taking ages to get set up. Welcome to MUB. Cheers. John. devries
You can start here: http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/DSL-HOWTO.html#AEN420 but I would guess it will take a fair amount of time. I think you will be better of using a network card (if you don't have one they cost only a few euro)particular since your new to Linux and Mandrake 9.0 is almost 3 years old.
