3lade
I have been set a new task by my company "make our web-site more interesting" so I figured making a online database of products and stuff! So first off I need to teach myself the skills :P Mandrake to the rescue, I installed Apache and this works fine, tried some php scripts and they work great but now I want to through in some MySQL database's. I have installed phpMyAdmin but everytime I go to check the status it claims it cant connect to MySQL. I have checked the services in MCC, it says it can start the services but has problems stopping the service. With Webmin it throws up an error not connecting too. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Also any sites for some tutorials on building this mutha of a site, or basic help on the three subjects. aru
as you said that the problem found was in stoping the mysql service, you might want to try to check it's status at command line: ~# service mysql status and see what it reports Some time ago, because of a lock file, my mysql behaved in a strange maner, having problems restarting, or stoping it. Cannonfodder
Make sure you have handled permissions. If you use google, do a search for the mysql and GRANTED command. You have to run mysql, open the database and then grant an user permission. I had problems connecting until I did that.
