tstrickland
I've just installed Mandriva 2005 LE and all went well. When I started looking for the software packages I noticed that the system only looked for rpm packages located on the installation CDs. I'd like to locate the Internet repositories where more and more-up-to-date packages are located. I need to be educated about Mandriva resources. Your help will definitely be appreciated! tyme
If you click on the "easy-urpmi" link at the very top of the page that will take you to a tool that helps configure sources for extra software. also, in mandrake control center under the software section, you'll want to choose "update" so that you can get your system up-to-date with the official packages (if you haven't done so already). alexpank
There are also sites around like pbone, rpmfind and rpmseek, which have RPMs for various flavours of Linux, including a number of versions of Mandrake/Mandriva, but your best option is urpmi, because it'll install all your dependencies (Deo volente), whereas the websites above only install that RPM. I believe you can use urpmi to install downloaded RPMs, but I don't know if it will automagically grab the dependencies too. HTH
tyme
If you download an rpm and install it with urpmi it will resolve any dependencies that are available in your configured repo's
alexpank
Mmm, thought that might have been the case. Thanks for the confirmation, tyme. Anyway, urpmi is the better option to start off with, and then go to the web if there's nothing in the repositories.

arctic
sometimes some mirrors do not work properly due to administration work. thus i also suggest using different mirrors. do not forget to remove the current mirrors you have set up from the mcc first.
