arctic
my suggestion: c: 15 gb winxp d: 10 gb win/linux exchange partition, fat32 ------------------ /swap: 1gb (i prefer having enough swap left in case i upgrade my ram later) /root: ~5gb, ext3 /home: rest of space, ext3 or reiserfs
polemicz
There have been many posts and threads on this issue here, I'd recommend that you check them. It's a pretty complicated and idiosyncratic process on deciding on partitions. As a rule make sure you have a separate /home. If you are going to try different distributions you may want a separate partition for your data files. As I do that I keep a minimal /home partition and have separate ones for other stuff. But do check the other threads for opinions. You will also get into issues of what file system to use, most folks do either ext3 or Reiser. It probably only makes a difference in special situations. You may not need that extra NTFS partition, but it all dpends on what you will be doing with each distro. Good luck.
