Greetings there,

i was trying to uprmi.update , i got this error..

[root@localhost root]# urpmi.update
the entry to update is missing
(one of jpackage, Installation CD 3 (cdrom3), contrib, main, Installation CD 2 (cdrom2), update_source, Installation CD 1 (cdrom1), plf-free)
[root@localhost root]#

as i don know how to list uprmi media source/types at terminal,i went to GUI mode.

so i did go to the GUI mode of uprmi thru..

star>system>configuration>packaging>Software Media manager

following is the list of types/url/rel_url (excluded the CDROM url-rel_paths)

jpackage:

ftp://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/mandrake/officia.../media/jpackage

media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz

contrib:

ftp://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/mandrake/officia...6/media/contrib

media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz

main:

ftp://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/mandrake/officia...i586/media/main

media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz

update_source

ftp://ftp.neva.ru/Linux-Distrib/Mandrake/....1/main_updates

media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz

plf-free

ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/plf/mandrake/free/10.1

synthesis.hdlist.cz

PS: there is a typo in man urpmi at line 192

[root@localhost root]# man urpmi| grep -n 'Yhis'
<standard input>:134: warning: numeric expression expected (got `o')
192:       -y     Yhis is the same as --fuzzy.
[root@localhost root]#

instead of Yhis it should be This?

does anyone else see this??

so how do i successfully update the urpmi repository??

thanks,

rohit.

It's unlikely to be the man page thats causing the prob, this is only documentation.

It could be that if you've tried to update the CD's, and the CD's aren't in the drive, then it could throw an error when looking for and not finding.

Easy enough to rule out, I usually use the Software Media Manager, click Update, and then select all sources, except CD based media, which means you'll only update your internet based easyurpmi sources. As the CD's don't change, you don't need to update these sources.

Hope that helps.
