Phantom
I downloaded a Grub splash screen and copied that to the /boot/grub directory, added the lines to the menu.lst file like this: timeout 10 color black/cyan yellow/cyan default 0 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/amd64.xpm.gz But now I only get a black screen, nothing is showing up, I can press "Enter" and the system will load but how can I display the image? Screen is attached, so maybe somebody can check if there is something wrong with it? amd64.xpm.gz
Reiver_Fluffi
Hmmm, might be asking the obvious here, but does your version of GRUB have splashimage support? Cheers
Phantom
ROFL I didn't even know there was support needed :woops: Ok, I just choose GRUB during the MDV 2005LE installation.
AussieJohn
Are you using the Mandriva64 OS or just the usual Mandriva 2005-LE. The Mandriva2005-LE does support Grub splash. I am using the usual 2005 and the Grub Splash package I am using is lineart.xpm.gz and not the one you mention and it has worked perfectly everytime I have installed it (4 other computers for friends and 4 or 5 times on my own machine) . Maybe you are using the wrong package. I have enclosed the package I am using to save you chasing it. Cheers. John. Phantom
I did something stupid I guess I thought that I would need a newer version so I loaded the one from the cooker, that just stopped the system from loading, I needed to boot from the dvd and reinstall lilo. I'll uninstall it now and give your idea a try aj. Thanks
Reiver_Fluffi
ROFL I didn't even know there was support needed :woops: Ok, I just choose GRUB during the MDV 2005LE installation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to a few articles you did, but then again I couldn't verify when those articles were written (allegedly there was a time when splash images weren't supported?!?!). Anyhow, my moneys on AJ's advice... Cheers
