janet.doe
hi! I have QuickShot model QS-123 joystick and Sound Blaster AudioPCI64V/AudioPCI128 (gameport on it). Can't get the QS working. I have Mandriva Limited edition 2005 and it doesn't find QS automatically. Help me if You can. Thanks.
devries
Can you post the output from lsmod? (open a console, log in as root and type: lsmod)

devries
gameport 3328 1 snd-ens1371. The joystick is recognized and the module loaded. I'm not exactly sure how it work with this driver but with my usb joystick a /dev/input/js gets created. Look in your /dev/input/ if there is a js device (or look for it under /dev)/ If you find one open a console and do cat /dev/input/jsx (x is a number)and see if you get output. If not, log in as root and try again. If you get output type chmod 666 /dev/input/jsx and try again.
janet.doe
There is only mouse and mice in /dev/input/ . What should I do to make the joystick to work? Or is it just easier to go shopping and replace that antique thing with a new toy? :)
devries
Google says the ns558 module needs to be loaded too. Open a console, log in as root and type: modprobe ns558. Then look for the js device again. Shopping is easier but less fun :)
janet.doe
Well, I think I'll go shopping... : ) This is what I got with modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting ns558 (/lib/modules/2.6.11-6mdk/kernel/drivers/input/gameport/ns558.ko.gz): No such device. Thank you, and if you get any idea what I could do, please tell me.
devries
Try modprobe joydev and then modprobe ns558.

adamw
I think gameport ones show up as /dev/js* . Only USB ones are /dev/input/js* . I might be wrong, of course :)
